Former Kikkawa Family Residence(“Izutsuya” Ikuno Town Development Craft Center)

Cultural Property

The former Yoshikawa family residence was the residence of a family that started living in Ikuno Town about 400 years ago and passed down the charlatan skills from generation to generation. It is clear from the ridge plate that it was built in 1832 (Tenpo 3), and it is a historical building that conveys the unique lifestyle culture of Ginzancho, which was formed as a territory under the direct control of the Tokugawa shogunate.
Charlatans are the managers who were granted mining rights at the Ikuno Mine. Among the Ikuno Ginzan Silver Mines, which had over 500 mines, the mining business of the silver mine called Tsurubayashiyama was passed down from generation to generation. On the other hand, the Yoshikawa family, under the trade name Izutsuya, had been running a local inn for those reporting to the magistrate's office for work.

The valuable buildings and land, which are rare in Ikuno Town, were donated to Ikuno Town in 1999 by the Yoshikawa family with the hope that they would be useful for town development, and were renovated and renovated as Ikuno Town Development Workshop Izutsuya.
